The Conservation Council of WA is encouraging the public to make submissions to the WA Fracking Inquiry, following today’s release of a Background and Issues Paper which identifies serious environmental, social, economic, and health risks associated with the gas fracking industry.

Environment groups have warned that a proposal for a gas fracking project and gas pipeline in the Kimberley would face intense opposition from community and conservation groups.

The state’s peak environment group the Conservation Council of WA (CCWA) and Frack Free Future alliance have welcomed today’s announcement by the McGowan Government to implement a ban on fracking in the South West, Peel, and Perth regions and a moratorium in other areas pending the results of an inquiry.
